WHAT ARE FOREVER CHEMICALS?
"Forever chemicals," or PFAS, are a large group of man-made chemicals that are resistant to breaking down in the environment and the human body. So, they are chemicals that also do not leave the soil or water.
WHO MAKES THESE CHEMICALS?
Examples are: 3M, Dupont, Chemours, Tyco, and others. These are very large, industrial chemical manufacturers. These companies have already settled claims for billions of dollars.
WHY DOES THIS MATTER TO FARMERS?
We are investigating the potential claims they may have for abeyance of the nuisance and the viability of the same. In other words, we are investigating to figure out if they have a claim against a chemical manufacturer for damage to their farmlands.
WHY INVESTIGATING? DON’T YOU KNOW?
There is high likelihood that your farm will qualify for a claim, or that your farm suffered damages that warrant a lawsuit, if you irrigated your crops, fertilized your crops, and met other parameters that are assessed by scientists, lawyers, and other experts. This is the investigatory phase, but we believe your farm may qualify.
WHY MY FARM?
Well, these chemicals are widely used in fertilizers, and even more widely used in water treatment. Our belief is that many farmers have forever chemicals locked in their soil, and that something must be done to remove it. We are not yet sure what available remedies, including financial compensation, may be useful for your farm, which is why we are asking for your permission to look further into that possibility.
HOW LONG IS THE INVESTIGATION PHASE?
We hope to complete that process in 2026.
IF I QUALIFY, WHEN WILL I GET MY MONEY?
Unfortunately, there is no way to determine that right now, but we do not want to wait to find out. It is better to complete a determination of possible eligibility now, but there is no guarantee your farm is eligible.
